Songs That Inspire Civility and Kindness

Songs That Inspire Civility and Kindness

Staci Ericson, Owner/Creator, Golly Gee-pers!

I am delighted that Giftsoc has invited me to be their guest blogger!  Not liking to do things the usual way I decided to share through music.  For almost a year now I’ve been working along side the amazing Nashville singer and songwriter, Rebecca Sayre.  Our goal: to create a set of songs that inspire and guide children toward civility and kindness.  But, it had to be quality music that children and adults would enjoy listening to during work, study or play.    Almost all the songs are completed now and we are preparing to record.  However, the lovely Rebecca Sayre agreed to pick up her guitar and sing just for Giftsoc listeners.  I hope you enjoy.

If listeners would like to be notified when the CD comes out they can go to Golly Gee-pers and sign up at the bottom of the page.

Giftsoc listeners will receive a 20% discount off any order of Table Manners Cards for a limited time.  Simply place the order then email us indicating it was a “Giftsoc referral” the 20% will be immediately credited through paypal.

Warm regards,

Excuse Me mp3

Excuse Me
(Ericson/Sayre)

You need to get your lunch from the cubby box at school
But lots of kids are blocking it – so what-cha gonna do?
If you push and shove your way and someone tells on you
Yeah, you’re bound to get in trouble, man, that really isn’t cool
But remember what I say and use this simple phrase –
instead of getting busted, be polite; it really pays

Just say “Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me, would you please?
Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me please”

At the fancy restaurant Gram and Pops have took you to
They made you wear a sweater vest and comb your hair with goo
The waiter wears a Bow tie and serves you on the left
When out comes the biggest burp, from somewhere in your chest!
Put your hand up to your mouth, and look them in the eye
Say “excuse me for my burping, it must have been the pie”

Just say “Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me, would you please?
Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me please”

The hardest one to talk about rhymes with hoot and smart
It sounds just like the tuba of my good ole’ Uncle Art.
And if you make this grave mistake and do it in a crowd
It’s not the kind of anything to make your mama proud
But part of life, we must admit, can happen just like that
And you know what you need to say; it better not be… “Drat!” (Chorus)
